America's Elderly Most Concerned About Iraq War And The Economy, According To Wesley Enhanced Living Survey
Wesley Enhanced Living, a progressive aging services provider and continuing care retirement community (CCRC) developer, has released the results of its first resident survey, which asked senior residents for their views on the upcoming presidential election. Ninety-three percent of the senior respondents say they are registered to vote, and over half say they have already decided on their candidate of choice.

NHS Confederation Responds To End-Of-Life Care Strategy
Commenting on the end-of-life care strategy, Steve Barnett, acting chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents over 95% of NHS Organisations, said: "End-of-life care in the NHS needs to be improved - patients want and deserve the right to choose to die in the comfort their own home, as part of a comprehensive and dignified package of end-of-life care.

Extra Care Housing Enabling More Older People And Those With Dementia And Long-term Conditions To Live In A Home Of Their Own, UK
Health and Care Minister Ivan Lewis today (Monday 21 July) announced the sites that will benefit from £80million of Government funding to build extra care housing, enabling more older people and those with dementia and long-term conditions to live in a home of their own. Clearer, Fairer Funding For The Third Sector - Details Of The Third Sector Investment Programme Published, UK
Care Services Minister, Ivan Lewis, today announced new funding arrangements for Third Sector organisations in health and social care that will make funding more transparent and effective. The new system, known as the Third Sector Investment Programme, replaces the 'Section 64 General Scheme of Grants'. There will be two new funding schemes for 2009/10, which are now open for applications.

In a new study that will be published in current issue of Pediatrics, Paul T. Shattuck, Ph.D., professor of social work at Washington University in St. Louis, found that families with similar demographics and nature of their children's special needs have different out-of-pocket health expenditures depending on the state in which they live.
