Gladstone Senior Programs—often called the Gladstone Senior Center—is part of District 622 Community Education and operates inside the Gladstone Community Education Center at 1945 Manton St., Maplewood, MN 55109. It serves adults 55+ with a welcoming weekday hub for social connection, learning, and wellness; typical office hours run roughly 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. on weekdays.

Featured Senior Center August 2025: Portage Zhang Senior Center

The Portage Zhang Senior Center is a warm and welcoming hub for adults aged 50 and over from Portage and the surrounding Kalamazoo County area. Originally established in 1979, the center began operating at its first location in 1982 before moving into its impressive 36,000-square-foot facility in 2022. This modern building was made possible through a strong community effort, with half of the $12 million project funded by generous donations from local supporters and the Friends of the Portage Senior Center.

The Portage Zhang Senior Center is dedicated to active aging, offering programs that promote health, social connection, and personal growth. Its spacious facility features a fitness center, indoor pickleball courts, a cozy café with a fireplace, and expanded rooms for activities. The wellness programming is designed for all ability levels, including classes such as Tai Chi, chair yoga, Zumba Gold, cardio drumming, and Parkinson’s-focused fitness options.

The Alvin Senior Center is a very active, always fun center! This 10,000-square-foot facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and serves as a welcoming community hub where adults aged 50 and over can gather for social, recreational, educational, and fitness activities

Inside, you’ll find two large meeting rooms equipped with full kitchens, a media room with four internet-ready computers, a TV lounge, a craft room, an activity room, and an exercise room—spaces designed to promote health, well-being, and camaraderie among local seniors.

Facility rentals and program registrations can be completed online via the City’s website, and the Senior Center’s ongoing events and newsletters keep members informed of upcoming activities and meetings

The Edina Senior Center provides recreational, educational, health and wellness programming, day trips, special events and ongoing activities for those 55 and older. The center hosts a full roster of activities and events, every single month. Some samples of different events are: A Speed Dating Event; where single or divorced seniors can meet up with eachother for a fun social meet. A Monthly Reading Retreat; where book lovers can come together to share what they’re reading and swap recommendations. The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to lively book discussions, followed by 90 minutes of peaceful reading time in the comfort of the Edina Coffee Roasters shop.

They also have Shuffleboard, Women’s Pool, Yoga, Mahjongg Class, History Classes, Scrabble, Billiards, Poker, Excercise, Author Interviews, Health Insurance Counseling and various educational/health workshops.

The Surprise Senior Center, located in Arizona, serves adults 50+ regardless of residency, providing over 12,000 congregate meals yearly and welcoming 30,000+ annual visitors through its comprehensive programming for healthy aging. The center offers affordable membership options ($5 for activities, $10 for fitness room access, or $12 for both) that run January through December, with no proration for mid-year joins, giving members access to free wellness programs, fitness classes, recreational activities, creative aging classes, special events, and multigenerational offerings. With 902 current members, the center creates a warm, inclusive community where everyone belongs, fostering vital social connections and supporting aging in place through strategic partnerships with local non-profits.
