About This Senior Center

The Community for Positive Aging, formerly known as the Hollywood Senior Center, is a non-profit organization located at 1820 NE 40th Ave in Portland, Oregon. For over 50 years, this organization has been a cornerstone of the community, dedicated to empowering older adults to live independently and with a sense of fulfillment. While its roots are in the Hollywood neighborhood, its services now extend throughout the Portland area.

The center offers a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to support the social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs of its members. These include:

  • Health and Wellness: A variety of fitness classes like Chair Yoga and Tai Chi, a foot care clinic, and health education workshops.
     
  • Social and Recreational Activities: A diverse calendar of events such as movie screenings, arts and crafts, a ukulele group, and various games. The center also hosts special events and an annual Holiday Bazaar.
     
  • Support Services: Case management, options counseling, support groups for memory loss, and a durable medical equipment loan program. The center also provides technology assistance and seasonal tax preparation services.
     
  • Food Security: In addition to a weekly lunch program, the center has an Asian Food Pantry providing culturally specific groceries and participates in the Neighborhood Gleaners program.
     
  • Transportation: The organization offers transportation assistance programs, including fare relief for TriMet and LIFT users.
